Talk it Up is a Local Government initiative to encourage changing the way local government thinks and engages with communities. The 2021 and 2022 campaigns have had such brilliant feedback that they are running a one-day unconference (also known as an open-space event) in July 2023, where public sector communicators can discuss their challenges, share ideas and inspire change.

The Talk It Up Conference wants to help local government connect better with communities. They hope the chance to be part of something exciting can change the future of how government works in New Zealand.

Proudly hosted by the University of Waikato, this event is run by a small group of passionate local government communications professionals.
