THE DETAILS

WasteNet and Invercargill City Council partnered to deliver a large-scale community engagement campaign focused on the future of kerbside waste collection across Southland.

The campaign encouraged residents to “Have Your Say” on proposed bin collection options, helping councils better understand community preferences while educating households on waste reduction, recycling improvements, and the long-term vision for regional kerbside services.

Built around the “Rethinking Rubbish” and “Have Your Say” messaging, the campaign was designed to simplify complex consultation information into engaging, easy-to-understand collateral across both print and digital platforms.

Alongside the wide range of campaign collateral, we also created custom bin illustrations to visually represent the different kerbside collection options being proposed across the two council regions. The project was based on the branding originally created in 2014, featuring the WasteNet mascot, Bitz McGee.

The result was a clear and approachable public consultation campaign that supported community participation while maintaining strong consistency across multiple councils.
